Electrak system is just the ticket for new passport office
Power distribution specialist, Electrak, has played a leading role in making The UK Passport Service’s (UKPS) new Liverpool office an energy efficient operation with its Lightrak KNX lighting power distribution and controls system.
One of the UKPS’s busiest centres, the Liverpool passport office has moved to new premises in Old Hall Street, in the commercial heart of the city. Building services consultant, Faber Maunsell, specified Electrak’s Lightrak KNX to ensure a reliable lighting system that will deliver a practical and flexible approach to ensuring lights are not left on unnecessarily. Presence detectors will control the lighting locally within different areas of the building with a luminaire dimming system linked to daylight sensors for energy conservation. Electrak timed event controllers will also provide central controls where required.
Installed by contractor, NG Bailey, the Liverpool passport office’s KNX lighting system comprises more than 200 individual KNX lighting control devices on six lines of Electrak’s integrated power and communications ‘buscom’ trunking. This busbar hybrid provides both small power distribution and signal bus distribution via a separate integral twisted pair and is compatible with other protocols, including DALI and Lonworks as well as KNX, the world’s first open standard for building control.
Use of the Electrak system dramatically reduced installation times as the modular buscom track simply push fits together, snap locking into place and all Lightrak KNX control units are supplied pre-programmed, requiring only to be plugged in to the trunking as scheduled.
