Electrak makes life simple with buscom innovation

Leading power distribution specialist, Electrak, has made complex installations quicker and simpler with the introduction of buscom trunking, a busbar hybrid designed to offer combined power and signal bus distribution.

“Electrak’s innovation in developing busbar trunking with an integral communication bus circuit marks the beginning of a whole new product category which is becoming widely known as buscom trunking,” explained James Sykes, marketing manager at Electrak. “Driven by the increasing need for pre-fabrication and flexibility, our buscom trunking product carries power and comms signal for a variety of control systems, including lighting, heating and ventilation, within one simple to install, modular solution.”

Featuring an integral shielded twisted pair communications control circuit, Electrak’s buscom trunking has been designed with ease of installation and versatility in mind, with pre-wired track lengths simply push fitting into each other and snap locking into place. Enhanced tap offs then plug into regular outlets, and pick up power and control signals together for the control modules.

A robust, easy-fix modular system, it allows loads to be suspended directly from the trunking using Electrak’s range of fixing brackets and can be either suspended or surface mounted. Both 25A and 40A buscom trunking is available, with power outlets on one or two sides.

Electrak’s buscom trunking was originally developed for use alongside the company’s Lightrak lighting controls system, but it is equally compatible with other control protocols, including Lonworks and DALI, making it an ideal solution for any installation requiring both power and signal bus distribution.

James Sykes continued: “Traditionally installation of a lighting control system involved a spaghetti of power and data cables, with multiple terminations resulting in many potential points of failure. With buscom trunking, installation of parallel runs in the ceiling void provides universal access to a power and communications matrix, offering a neat, reliable solution that is both time and cost-efficient.”
