Electrak makes headlines in the Middle East

Mar 1, 2008

Electrak’s plug and play power distribution systems have been used for the first time in Qatar as part of the fit out of a new Government agency building.

Located in Doha, the capital city of the Middle Eastern state, the Qatar News Agency disseminates news from the region to the rest of the world for up to 24 hours per day. When a new headquarters was commissioned for the news agency, it was essential that the power distribution system was flexible enough to meet the needs of its busy newsrooms, both now and in the future.

“It was the flexibility of the Electrak 24 Standard Power Track under floor power distribution which ensured the decision to use Electrak” from Qatari supplier, Iyad. “The push and click assembly made installation quick and simple and when changes to the layout were made by the client following the installation it was really easy to simply order some extra floor boxes and put them in place, without any fuss or disruption.”

In all, the contractor installed 400m of Electrak Power Track at the Qatar News agency. Shuttered socket outlets positioned along the track at 30cm intervals ensured that floor boxes could be positioned exactly where they were needed and moved quickly and easily when the office layout changed. The contractor used a total of 100 floorboxes, providing 400 sockets to ensure that both office-based staff and visiting correspondents have ample power outlets for their needs. With tool-free fitting in as little as ten seconds, the floor boxes also offered the contractor a helping hand in making swift changes to the layout after the original installation had been completed.

Electrak’s Export Manager, Andy Pearson commented: “This is a significant project for Electrak as it is our first in Qatar and demonstrates the appeal of our easy to install product range across all markets. The Middle East is potentially an area of significant growth for Electrak and I look forward to seeing this job become the first of many.”
