Bow Bells House banks on Electrak's plug and play power

Electrak is providing the power to two of London’s financial institutions as they take up residence at Cheapside’s newest high specification office development, Bow Bells House.

Bank of Ireland, designed by architects Gensler and Landsbanki have both taken space in the seven-storey Bovis Lend Lease Stanhope Alliance development, comprising retail units on the ground floor, a basement and seven storeys of grade A office accommodation.

M&E Contractor, Bancroft, has installed 600m of Electrak’s underfloor powertrack within Bank of Ireland’s new offices at Bow Bells House, along with four-compartment Electrak floor boxes for general power supply. In the remaining commercial storeys, the contractor has installed 1,500 m of low noise Electrak power track and a further 1,500m of standard Electrak power track for Landsbanki’s general power needs. Power will be supplied to individual offices and desks via 705 Electrak access grommets and more than 80 three-compartment floorboxes. Electrak has also provided 1,000 Rotasoc desk modules for the installation, allowing the end user to locate electrical sockets at the point of use on individual desks, with the flexibility to move these or add additional sockets on an easy-to-use, plug and play basis.

“The plug and play nature of the Electrak system not only made it fast and simple to install,” comments Barry Martin from Bancroft, “it also means that flexibility has been built in to the power supply at Bow Bells House. It’s an important factor for financial institutions as not only is the efficiency of their IT and communications equipment business critical, but their office requirements can change very quickly and they may need to reassign space to different functions. With the Electrak underfloor power track, the offices can be re-configured with a minimum of disruption and Rotasoc allows desks to be moved or additional equipment to be added to a workstation simply by plugging in the required number of modules where they are needed.”
